Soon after Dr. Bill Epstein founded the Siskiyou Eye Center he adopted folding lens technology. He became the first surgeon in the Rogue Valley to use this surgical advance on virtually all of his patients. This allowed rapid recovery of vision and decreased dependence on glasses. He continues to practice aspects of general ophthalmology.
“I love what I do, not just the practice of ophthalmology, but also the relationships I have with my patients. I believe that lens implant surgery is a unique way to restore their youthful vision.”
While completing his surgical residency at Stanford Dr. Epstein was introduced to international ophthalmology. He subsequently worked as a medical volunteer performing cataract surgery in multiple developing nations in Asia and South America.
Dr. Epstein and his wife Sarah live in a net-zero energy home near Ashland. They received the Oregon Tree Farmer of the Year award for their progressive forestry practices. Dr. Epstein enjoys both the access to wilderness and the many cultural opportunities that the Rogue Valley offers. Their daughter and two grown sons live in Oregon.
