Dr Rob Ewing’s experience and expertise in the field of ophthalmology, particularly in cataract surgery and complex glaucoma treatment, make him a sought after eye surgeon and ophthalmic educator.
“I can’t imagine anything more rewarding than restoring a person’s ability to see their loved ones, read a book and take in the beauty of this world.”
A graduate of Stanford’s ophthalmology residency program, Dr. Ewing was the first physician in San Francisco to perform a cataract operation using a foldable lens implant, a minimally invasive procedure now routinely used to treat cataracts on an outpatient basis. He has special interest and experience in modern refractive cataract surgery, using leading edge technologies and techniques to provide the best visual results, customized to each individual’s needs.
Before joining the Siskiyou Eye Center, Dr. Ewing, also a fellowship trained glaucoma specialist, served as a regional glaucoma expert for the Kaiser-Permanente Medical Group, treating the most complex and difficult glaucomas. He was also Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford and enjoyed teaching Stanford ophthalmology residents.
An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Ewing enjoys riding mountain and road bikes, as well as hiking, camping and photography.
